Dr. Jenny Kuhn grew up in Frankfort Square and New Lenox, IL. Since she was a child, she has always had a love for animals, and enjoyed caring for her pets throughout her childhood. She went to DePaul University for her undergraduate degree, and graduated with a Biology major, with the intention to further her education through veterinary school. Throughout her undergraduate career, she pursued multiple types of animal related experiences, including a zookeeper internship at Brookfield Zoo, volunteering with various veterinarians, and organizing a volunteer group to walk dogs at the local animal shelter.
She graduated from veterinary school at the University of Illinois in 2016. In additional to the core curriculum, Dr. Kuhn pursued elective courses in exotic animal medicine, including small mammals, reptiles, birds, and wildlife/zoo animals. During veterinary school, she pursued many extracurricular activities in addition to her studies. She played a major role in the school’s Wildlife Clinic, which cares for and releases sick and injured wildlife. She worked as a volunteer, as well a Public Relations Coordinator and Board member of the clinic. During Dr. Kuhn’s clinical year of veterinary school, she took part in multiple externships outside of school, including Brookfield Zoo, Carolina Raptor Center, and Wildlife Prairie Park.
Throughout all of her experiences, Dr. Kuhn has worked with a variety of animals. In addition to common pets, Dr. Kuhn has been lucky to work with birds of prey, wild mammals, and zoo animals (including tigers, bears, giraffes, and dolphins!).
Dr. Kuhn has many interests besides veterinary medicine. She enjoys playing multiple musical instruments (percussion, drum set, and guitar), as well as listening to music. She also enjoys drawing, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
