Daniel B. Slaton, DVM

 

Dr. Slaton was raised in Ventura, going to Buena High School and participating in the Varsity Swimming and Water Polo teams. Dr. Slaton was a member of the Junior National Championship Water Polo Team. He did his undergraduate work at UC Irvine while participating on the nationally ranked UC Irvine Water Polo team.  Dr. Slaton graduated from Ross Veterinary University, completing his final year at Washington State University. He has practiced Small Animal, general veterinary medicine.  He is a member of the Santa Barbara-Ventura Veterinary Medical Association as well as the American Veterinary Medical Association.

 

Dr. Slaton enjoys spending time with his 16 month old son Noah and his very large canine companion, Disco, an English Mastiff. Activities include running long distance (Marathons), surfing and snowboarding.

Tiffany Margolin, DVM

Dr. Tiffany Margolin graduated from UC Davis , the number one veterinary school in the country, in 1991. She became board-certified in avian (bird) medicine and surgery in 2003. In addition, she studied the practice of NAET, an acupressure allergy-elimination technique, and became level II certified in 2003. She brings with her an exceptionally caring manner, expertise in both eastern and western medicine, and a continued hunger for learning. Her background includes numerous publications in Bird Talk magazine, literature for her peers, and several years educating the public on both radio and television.

Her radio show All About Pets remained popular until she left it to pursue her specialty certification. Currently she is living her dream owning an integrative veterinary hospital, and helping your dogs, cats and exotic pets back to health here, at the Animal & Bird Wellness Center. Dr. Margolin is a current member and past president (2005) of the Santa Barbara Ventura Veterinary Medical Association, a member of the Association of Avian Vets, the California Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. She writes a monthly column for Your Health Magazine and speaks regularly at schools and animal-related events around the country.

 

Kari Lyman, Receptionist

Kari's experience includes working as an LA County Lifeguard at Zuna Beach and work as an EMT and CNA.  She holds a B.A. in Communications from UCSD.  Kari is the "greeter" at our hospital and assists in many duties.  She loves pampering her horse, Pistol, and riding all her neighbor's horses.  Kari also enjoys swimming, water polo, school, and just hanging out with her friends.

 

Pam Roades, Practice Manager 

Pam joined our hospital with 21 years of banking management experience, as well as 10 years experience in wild and exotic animal care and wildlife rehabilitation.  Married 26 years, Pam has two children and enjoys reading, needlepoint, gardening and cooking.

 

Erika Contant, Veterinary Technician

Erika hails from Pennsylvania.  She served six years in the U.S. Army, holds a B.S. in Biology, and is currently studying at Purdue University.  Erika loves to do anything outdoors, including  rock climbing, hiking, camping, and water sports.  She lives with her three adorable cats, China, Samson and Jack.

 

Melissa Krause, Tech and Veterinary Assistant

Melissa holds a B.S. in Business, an A.S. in Pre-Veterinary Medicine, and is currently studying Molecular Biology at CSUCI.  Hear hobbies include reading and playing violin.  Melissa shares her home with her cat named Forrest and her husband of three years who shares her joys of biking, hiking and nature.

 

Tara Jose, Veterinary Technician

Tara has experience with California Wildlife Center and SPCA-LA animal care.  She hold a B.S. in Biology from UCLA.  Tara enjoys caring for her parrottet Rocky and her orange tabby, Kibble.  She busies herself taking animal-related classes, playing tennis and beach volleyball, whitewater rafting and cooking for family and friends.
